šŸŽ‰ New: Discovery on Stanza

If you're new to Stanza, welcome. We're so glad you're here. Don't forget to check out:

Behind the Scenes

At Stanza, we imagine a world where most people wake up inspired, excited to dive into days filled with things they love. And the truth is, we’re more likely to build that world together.

Your calendar is the closest reflection of how you spend your time. So we've been thoughtfully designing a better way to connect your passions to your calendar—starting with discovery.

Bringing back discovery was the most-requested feature after our redesign. Our learnings from the earlier version of discovery is that while we got a lot right, there was still much to do to build a product that just gets you.

It wasn’t just about surfacing calendars—it was about creating that spark of delight when you stumble across something unexpectedly perfect. We’re not alone in chasing that feeling.

And now, with AI in the mix and a nimble team behind the scenes, we’re closer than ever to making it real.

Tags as the New Building Blocks

Most product experiences today are split into two worlds:

  1. Search - where you (mostly) know what you're looking for.
  2. Discovery - where the product tries to guess what you might like, usually shown as a feed.

Feeds are often algorithmic, usually a little mysterious, and rarely in your control. We wanted to rethink that. Instead of feeding you content we think you’ll like, what if we gave you the tools to explore our library on your own terms?

That's how we landed on tags.

Tags are simple. They’ve been around forever. But in our case, they’re becoming the atomic unit for how we organize calendars — giving you an intuitive, flexible way to hop, skip, and jump through our library.

With tags, you're in control of what you see. Head to our homepage to play around with tags and dive into:

We’ve already rolled out 1,000s of tags behind the scenes, with ~100 featured prominently on our homepage. And now, with the help of AI, we’re getting even more creative.

šŸŽ‰ Coming soon:

Up Next: Save your Tags

Tags were just the beginning. The next step? Personalization.

Soon, you’ll be able to follow tags ā€” think ā€œDramaā€ or ā€œMarch Madnessā€ — and we’ll take it from there.

Here’s what that means:

  • ⭐ Get notified when new calendars are added to a tag you follow
  • šŸ”” Be reminded when seasonal calendars become active again
  • šŸŽÆ Discover new calendars based on your preferences

This is especially useful for calendars that come and go. Maybe you don’t want March Madness on your calendar all year — but when the brackets drop? You definitely want to know.

Tags + personalization = less forgetting, more ā€œoh wow, that’s back!ā€
You follow what you care about. We’ll do the remembering.

We’ll be rolling this out in phases—starting with saved tags, and eventually offering personalized calendar recommendations and smarter update alerts based on your interests.

State of the Calendar Library

Of course, tagging is only as useful as the calendars behind it. So here’s where we’re focused on over the next few months:

Short-term: Sports, Done Right

Our library already includes every major U.S. league—NFLNBAMLBNHLMLS, and all major NCAA conferences—and we’re nearly done rounding out the rest. What’s coming next:

Coming soon: More women's sports, expanded rugby and tennis coverage.

See something, say something: As our library continues to grow, it's even more important to let us know if a calendar is inaccurate. You can easily report any calendar using the Feedback link on its Stanza page.

Mid-term: Zooming In on Local

Once sports are complete, we’re turning our attention to local calendars. This has been one of the most frequent user requests, and it’s something we’re really excited about.

We’re talking:

  • šŸŽ Venue schedules (museums, comedy clubs, concert halls)
  • šŸ« School calendars (PTAs, departments, districts)
  • šŸ—³ļø Local events (town halls, elections, farmers markets)

We know this will take time—and will require a mix of automated feeds, partnerships, and community involvement—but it’s a key part of making Stanza feel personal, not just popular.
