Thank you for all the positive feedback on our first post about the relaunch! As a small team, we put immense thought into crafting every detail of the product and these posts. Hearing directly from you about what resonates is deeply validating for us.

One of the major requests from the last post was for a deep dive into groups—how they work and how to make the most of them. We'll cover new calendars on the platform and how groups fit into them.

Let’s get started.

New Calendars

Groups

At Stanza, we pioneered the concept of a library of calendars that anyone could easily subscribe to. Before Stanza, these calendars were scattered across the web and poorly maintained, making it hard to find even a few worth subscribing to.

After launching Stanza+, something incredible happened—people went from subscribing to 2-3 calendars to over 40 because it was so simple. But this ease of access had an unintended consequence: calendar apps quickly became cluttered and overwhelming.

Out of control calendar sidebars

We were inspired by Spotify’s playlist feature when designing groups. Think of calendars as songs and groups as playlists.

With groups, our goal was to solve for:

Organization: It just makes sense to organize calendars by topic or interest. We naturally think of our interests in categories—like our sports teams, favorite artists, and TV shows. Groups should mirror that thinking.

Saving time: By grouping similar events in one calendar, you can quickly toggle it on and see all your options, helping you decide how to spend your time faster.

How Groups Work

Instead of adding individual calendars, you add them to a group and subscribe to the entire group. As you add more calendars to the group, they’ll automatically update in your calendar.

Tips & Tricks

  • You’ll be asked to set a username when creating your first group. Most people choose the same username they use on X or Instagram.
  • Find all your groups on your Library page under the Groups tab. Edit a group by clicking on the three dots menu and selecting “Edit”.
  • Add existing calendars to a group on your Library page under the Calendars tab

  • You can see all your upcoming events in a group by going to Your Profile:

Find your group in the drop down and you’ll see all upcoming events.

  • You’ll also see events across your groups on your My Events tab on your homepage.

Note: As you add calendars to groups, changes may take some time to appear in your calendar app. Apple and Outlook calendars update the fastest and can be force refreshed. Google Calendar can take up to 24 hours as that’s their default for refreshing calendar subscriptions.

Groups + TV Shows = 📆 đŸȘ„

As part of the relaunch, we rebuilt our data integrations from the ground up to improve the quality of calendars on Stanza. For TV, we’re still using the same trusted sources, but we’ve added better controls to ensure the content in our database is accurate and reliable.

Check out the update homepage tab for upcoming Netflix shows. Other updates:

Doubled the # of TV shows: There are now 9000+ TV shows part of the library.

Make the most of TV shows with groups

It’s easy to use groups to organize TV shows by network (for example: Netflix shows) and genre (for example: Reality TV). You can also get creative with other ideas like “Date night shows”, “Can’t miss TV”, “Family Friendly” and more.
